The science lab is an inherently dangerous place, with fire hazards, dangerous chemicals, and risky procedures. No one wants to have an accident in the lab, so it's imperative to follow lab safety rules.
Each lab will have it's own set of safety rules. It is important that you follow directions so that everyone remains safe in science class. NEVER take anything from the science classroom without permission.
Our classroom has glass aquariums, chemicals and breakables. Horseplay, practical jokes, and pranks are dangerous and prohibited. You will not be allowed to participate in labs if you choose not to be safe.
Report any accident (spill, breakage, etc.) or injury (cut, burn, etc.) to me immediately, no matter how trivial it seems. Do not panic. Most accidents occur when a students are not following the rules.
The classroom pets are loved deeply and they have feelings too. If you tease anyone who fears them it upsets the pets. Handle them with permission, love, care and kindness. Sometimes they get scared if it is too loud or they are not being handled gently and tenderly. Treat them with respect.
Treat every person, all the materials, the furniture and the environment that surrounds you with respect.
Treat every person, all the materials, the furniture and the environment that surrounds you with respect.
I have ONE simple rule: Do nothing to keep me from teaching or you and others from learning!
We are a science community!
